Our Coaches

Steve Johnson

Founder

CrossFit Level 2, CrossFit Weightlifting, 40 years of experience.

I was introduced to CrossFit in 2009. Almost immediately, I found myself helping with coaching. By that time, I had been weightlifting for about 25 years and felt I had a solid foundation for helping others.

What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a full-time business in 2011, when I bought out my partner and expanded our space from 3,000 to 14,000 square feet.

Over the years, there were plenty of growing pains as I worked to figure out what really mattered most. I made plenty of mistakes-trying to focus on too many things at once. But with the support of others, we eventually honed in on two key pillars: consistency in our group classes, and a commitment to challenging, sometimes intense, work.

We discovered that creating a welcoming community where everyone was aligned around these values led to powerful changes-not just physically, but mentally as well. We push ourselves every day to keep improving, just as we push our members to do the same.

At CrossFit RDU in Raleigh, NC, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality equipment to support your fitness journey. Our facility includes a wide array of cardio machines, such as treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and rowing machines. We also offer an extensive selection of free weights, resistance machines, and functional training tools, including kettlebells, medicine balls, and TRX systems. Whether your goal is to build strength, improve cardiovascular health, or increase flexibility, our cutting-edge equipment ensures you have everything you need for an effective workout.

Unique Features and Facilities

We have 14,000 square feet of space, including over 30 lifting stations and 100 feet of turf for sleds and agility. We pride ourselves on having all the equipment necessary to help anybody reach their goals, including 10 Assault air runners, 10 Concept2 erg bikes, 10 Rogue Echo bikes, and 25 Concept2 rowers.
